Alcatraz Swim (no wetsuit)

ALCATRAZ SWIM - July 2011

The first swimmer jumps into the 57 degree water off of Alcatraz Island - only 4 out of 19 swam w/o a wetsuit.

Bill getting ready to swim the 1-1/2 miles from Alcatraz Island back to Aquatic Park, San Francisco, CA.

Water Chop was 3 to 4 feet in the channel. From the water, San Francisco looks more like its 3 miles instead of 1-1/2 miles away (this picture shot from about halfway back). Wicked-Fast Currents!!!
